Local students from four schools had an unforgettable experience at Etihad Stadium, where they encountered Jack Grealish unexpectedly. The children, who are part of programs supported by Manchester City’s charity, City in the Community (CITC), were surprised by Grealish, who emerged from a giant box resembling his ‘Funk-Pop’ toy.The £100m winger spent time talking with the kids and gifted them signed versions of his new toy.
Grealish expressed his admiration for the toy’s design, highlighting its resemblance to him, especially the beard and headband. He also emphasized the significance of the toy’s sales in aiding City in the Community.
“I really like the design of the new toy – I think it looks like me with the beard and headband,” Grealish stated. “Obviously it’s also cool that if you buy one of these, you’re also supporting City in the Community which is a really good thing.”
He shared his delight in interacting with the youth, acknowledging his previous visits to CITC sessions and the positive impact they have in Manchester.
“I really enjoyed meeting the young people today. I’ve visited the charity’s sessions a few times before, so know first-hand the difference they make to people in Manchester. It makes me really proud to know that the club is supporting this important work through its Christmas campaign.”
The club is contributing to CITC by donating £5 for each item sold from a specific range and has committed to tripling donations to the charity, up to £75,000. Additionally, CITIC is planning more special events for schoolchildren and senior citizens during the Christmas period, and will donate £10,000 to local groups providing free Christmas meals to families in need. They are also gifting presents to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
