Manchester City is playing against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this Sunday. The team’s coach, Pep Guardiola, hopes for an easier game than their last one. In that match, they were losing by two goals but managed to win 3-2 against RB Leipzig. This win means Manchester City is at the top of their Champions League group.
However, in the Premier League, Arsenal is in the lead, not Manchester City. After Manchester City tied with Liverpool last week, Arsenal got ahead. They are one point in front of City, and this might increase to four points on Saturday.
Guardiola said on Friday that Mateo Kovacic is practicing again and might play in the Tottenham game, but it’s not likely for this weekend. John Stones is also getting better from his injury. But Matheus Nunes and Kevin De Bruyne might not play for City.
In their last game, Guardiola put Nathan Ake, Julian Alvarez, and Jeremy Doku on the bench. They might start in the next game against Tottenham. Also, Ederson is expected to be back in the team. Even though Ruben Dias had a tough game on Tuesday and was taken out at halftime, he is still expected to play this weekend.
So, this is how Manchester City might play against Tottenham.
1. GK: Ederson
One of four changes and the City goalkeeper hasn’t kept a clean sheet in any of the last eight appearances against Tottenham.
2. Kyle Walker
Guardiola said on Friday that the added responsibility of being City captain suits Walker, who faces his former club on Sunday.
3. CB: Ruben Dias
Was lucky not be sent off on Tuesday and had to be replaced at half-time, but Dias is expected to return to the line-up this weekend.
4. CB: Manuel Akanji
Was also far from his best against Leipzig, but will probably operate as hybrid defender-midfielder on Sunday.
