Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez have landed in Riyadh as the forward prepares to be revealed as an Al-Nassr player on Tuesday afternoon.
Last Monday, the 37-year-old signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Saudi Arabian team, where he will make over £173 million annually. With Ronaldo about to play his club football abroad from Europe for the first time in his career, it is the most paid contract in world football.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez arrived in Saudi Arabia via private plane, and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is scheduled to have a physical on Tuesday afternoon. Ronaldo landed in the Middle East on a spotless aircraft with numerous sparkling embellishments.
.
Rodriguez shared some pictures of the inside of the plane on Instagram, along with a picture of the double bed that the two were permitted to sleep on. Other photos showed the couple lounging on comfortable seats and getting ready to embark on a new journey after Ronaldo’s 15-month stint at Manchester United.
As Ronaldo stepped off the plane and joined his new nation, Al-Nassr supporters surrounded him. The striker and his considerable entourage are lodging at a five-star hotel in the city. An official told the AFP news agency, “He brought a big team of assistants and even a private security firm.”
.
After an ugly interview with Piers Morgan in which he attacked Erik ten Hag and the Glazers and said he doesn’t “respect” the Red Devils manager, Ronaldo departed United by mutual consent in November. After Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in August 2021 and scored 27 goals in 54 games, it was the final straw for the team, as they let him leave.
.
But Ronaldo didn’t have to look far to find a new team, as Al-Nassr hired him on Friday night. “This is more than history in the making,” said a club statement. This is a signing that will encourage our league, our country, and the next generation of boys and girls to be the best versions of themselves, in addition to encouraging our club to achieve even greater success. Cristiano, welcome to your new residence.
“Al Nassr’s vision is very inspiring and impressive,” Ronaldo continued. I’m excited to play in a different league in a different nation. I can’t wait to get back to my teammates as soon as possible.
Ronaldo has amassed an incredible 701 club goals in 951 games over his 21-year professional career. He has also won other significant honors. The Portuguese superstar has won numerous awards, both individually and collectively, in addition to seven league crowns in three separate nations—England, Spain, and Italy—and five Champions League trophies.
