Barcelona Joins the Chase for Premier League’s Prodigal Striker, Alexander Isak

Barcelona has entered the race to sign Newcastle United’s star striker, Alexander Isak, according to reports from SPORT.

The La Liga giants are eyeing Isak as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski, who, at 35, is approaching the twilight of his illustrious career. Despite investing in Vitor Roque, Barcelona still seeks a top-tier forward to bolster their attacking lineup.

Club president Joan Laporta dreams of signing Erling Haaland, but Barcelona’s financial constraints make securing the Manchester City superstar unlikely either now or in 2025. Isak, previously targeted by Barcelona during his time at Real Sociedad, has once again emerged as a key target for the Catalan club—a pursuit also keenly followed by Arsenal.

According to Sport, securing Isak’s signature from Newcastle will not be straightforward, as the deal could cost around 100 million euros. The 24-year-old Swedish international, who is tied to a long-term contract until 2028, has been in stellar form this season, scoring 21 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions for the Magpies.
