Plans are in place to appropriately bolster the team in the summer now that FC Barcelona’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, is expected to stay on.
In addition to Bernardo Silva, the manager has made it known that he wants a “top” pivot midfield player in the summer.
Xavi and the rest of the club’s leadership met yesterday night and talked about signing the Manchester City playmaker.
Now, in regards to the pivot, Mundo Deportivo has given some information on Barcelona’s possible strategy.
Barcelona extends to Xavi the possibility of signing Guido Rodriguez.
According to the rumor, Barcelona has made a transfer offer to Argentina’s Guido Rodriguez and Real Betis for Xavi to strengthen the pivot position.
With just a few months left on his Real Betis contract, the 30-year-old defensive midfielder looks certain to leave the team as a free agent in the summer.
Although an injury early in the season caused them to move Rodriguez down their list, Barcelona has been keeping an eye on him for some time.
However, the midfielder’s name is back on the table at Barcelona as the World Cup winner is making a good comeback and doesn’t seem likely to extend.
Like Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich and Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, Xavi is rumored to favor other names.
However, it may be difficult for the team to sign them due to their financial circumstances. As a result, the Catalan heavyweights may find it feasible to strengthen the pivot position with Rodriguez.
