Viktor Gyokeres’ future at Sporting beyond the summer is uncertain, despite the Portuguese giants tying him to an £85million release clause

The agent of Sporting Clube de Portugal star Viktor Gyokeres says there is a big possibility the striker will join a Premier League club amid links to Arsenal and Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed life in Portugal after completing the move from Coventry City last summer. Gyokeres has registered a combined 51 goals and assists in 42 games this campaign.

Naturally, this has put the Swedish international on the radar of European clubs. Arsenal and Chelsea have been credited with an interest, and it remains to be seen whether the clubs will go head-to-head in the summer.

Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, revealed his future depends on whether Liverpool-linked boss Ruben Amorim will remain in charge. Amorim has emerged as the favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.

Cetinkaya believes Gyokeres could sign for a Premier League club due to their financial conditions to meet his €100 million (£85 million) release clause, although Italian clubs are also interested.

He told the Portuguese newspaper Record: “I won’t speculate about the names of clubs, but I can say that there is a big possibility that they will be Premier League clubs, because, of course, they are the ones who have the financial conditions to sign Viktor at the moment.

“There are also Italian clubs interested, of course. But we will see; it’s difficult for me to speculate around that. We are not at that stage yet. Viktor’s priority at the moment is to win the Portuguese league and cup.

“He only has that on his mind because he really wants to give supporters these titles. Sporting fans have been crazy and incredible with him. There is so much love for him; I have never seen anything like it.”
