Arsenal transfer news as summer target Benjamin Sesko continues his stunning form with RB Leipzig and scores a brilliant goal to demonstrate his qualities

Benjamin Sesko is ending the season in fine style for RB Leipzig ahead of a possible summer transfer. The 20-year-old striker scored his 16th goal of the campaign on Saturday, notching a sixth in the last six games, part of a wider run of 10 in 15 matches with two assists.

He reportedly has a £42 million release clause in his deal amid interest from Arsenal and a host of other top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United. Just last month, his agent attended a game between the two London sides, posting on Instagram from the Emirates Stadium inside the VW members-only lounge.

Elvis Basanovic, who works for the pro-transfer agency that represents him, will be a key figure in whatever his future holds. His job has been made much easier due to the form of Sesko, who scored perhaps his best of the season against Werder Bremen.

Running onto Mohamed Simakan’s knockdown, the Slovenian forward raced to the edge of the box before lashing in a right-footed finish under pressure. Lacing the ball high into the top left corner of the goal, Sesko’s finish demonstrated immense confidence but also a calmness to provide with bodies around him.

Leipzig went on to draw the game thanks to Sesko’s strike, and he is now entering what could be his final weeks at the club. With sides across the continent looking for the next big centre forward, he is doing his bit now to impress.

After scoring 16 times with four assists for RB Salzburg last year in the Austrian Bundesliga and 21 in 29 with six assists as an 18-year-old before that in the second division, Sesko is certainly one to watch. For Arsenal, he would be a change of profile from their current options.

Gabriel Jesus has fallen out of favour and tends to operate from the wings now instead, while Kai Havertz is playing centrally as a striker but doesn’t have the skillset of a natural No. 9. Eddie Nketiah could be sold over the summer as Mikel Arteta seeks to generate funds for the rest of his summer activities.

As for Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson has had a solid debut season in England, scoring 13 goals (all from open play) in his first 28 starts. Without someone to rotate minutes with regularly, Mauricio Pochettino has been left stranded with his options, something not likely to be helped by the impending exit of Armando Broja.

Despite his age, Sesko is a possible candidate to join the first-team squads of both sides. With goals like this, it’s easy to see why.
