Strict Conditions for New Manager: Chelsea Approaches Leicester’s Coach to Replace Pochettino

According to journalist Matt Law, the Blues owners will have certain requirements regarding the recruitment of a new captain.

Even though Mauricio Pochettino brought positive signals in the second half of the season, Chelsea’s top management still decided to fire the Argentine strategist.

Now they will look for a better solution to lead the team next season.

Chelsea is on the way to finding a replacement for Pochettino.

According to journalist Matt Law, American owners also have certain requirements for the new captain. Specifically, they want the new coach to have a football philosophy that favors possession of the ball and can adjust their squad to be able to control the match while maintaining a stable defense.

At the present time, not many candidates meet the requirements given by Chelsea.

Recently, there have been links between them and former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick. In addition, Roberto de Zerbi also emerged as a potential option when the Italian coach decided to leave Brighton to look for a new destination.

Chelsea is preparing to negotiate with Leicester City coach Enzo Maresca to replace Maurico Pochettino this summer.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea is preparing to contact Leicester City to start negotiations with Maresca. The Blues are trying to sign a new coach as soon as possible. The Stamford Bridge team parted ways with Pochettino earlier this week , despite the season ending well with sixth place and a place in next year’s European Cup.

As for Maresca, the Italian coach is currently racing to become Chelsea’s new coach along with Brentford captain Thomas Frank and Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna. According to reports, McKenna is the leading candidate for Chelsea thanks to his contribution in helping The Tractor Boys (nicknamed Ipswich) promote to the Premier League after 22 years.

Maresca helped Leicester City return to England’s top flight after just a year when they won the Championship. However, with the Foxes facing the possibility of a points deduction, the Italian coach could be tempted to leave the club. He has a low release clause of just 8.5 million pounds ($10.7 million). Therefore, Chelsea could make a quick move for the former assistant coach of Man City.

Maresca himself is ready to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer. However, it remains to be seen how the conversation with Leicester plays out.
