HEARTBREAK IN PENALTY SHOOTOUT: AL Nassr and Ronaldo Fall to AL Hilal Again

The King’s Cup final between Al Hilal and Al Nassr took place in an in an extremely tense and dramatic manner, with 3 red cards and a breathtaking penalty shootout. In the end, Al Hilal was the winning team, and Cristiano Ronaldo continued to miss the title with Al Nassr.

After losing the Saudi Pro League championship to Al Hilla, Al Nassr really wanted to defeat this opponent in the Saudi King’s Cup final to get revenge. Ronaldo’s team entered the game very determined and attacked from the first minute.

However, they unexpectedly had to concede an early goal. In the 7th minute, Aleksandar Mitrovic took advantage of Malcom’s cross from the right wing to sink a header into Al Nassr’s net, helping Al Hilal take the lead.

However, Al Nassr did not give up. They still pressed forward to attack in search of an equalizer. By the 87th minute, Al Bulayhi of Al Hilal was also disqualified and both sides were equal in numbers. Exactly 1 minute later, Yahya jumped high and headed the match to equalize 1-1 for Al Nassr.

In the 90th minute, Al Hilal lost another player when midfielder Koulibaly received a second yellow card and left the field. Even though there was 10 minutes of extra time, Al Nassr could not score a goal, so the match had to go into extra time and then a penalty shootout.

In the first round, Al Hilal’s Neves missed, but Al Nassr’s Telles did the same. In the 6th turn, Al Hilal goalkeeper Bounou continued to correct his teammates’ mistakes when he pushed away Al Hassan’s shot. In the next kick, Al Nassr’s Al Nemer missed while Al Dawsari succeeded.

The final result of the penalty shootout was 5-4 in favor of Al Hilal. They officially won the 2024 Saudi King’s Cup championship and completed a double title. Meanwhile, Ronaldo continues to win titles with Al Nassr and has only won one title, the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup.
