Era of the New Generation: Williams and Yamal Shine as They Lead Spain to EURO 2024 Victory

Spain beat England 2-1 to win the EURO 2024 championship, and the credit certainly goes to the “angel wings” Nico Williams – Lamine Yamal.

There is no doubt that Yamal and Williams were the ones who broke the deadlock to open the victory for Spain in the final .

Yamal was blocked by Luke Shaw in the first half, but just a moment of “freedom” at the beginning of the second half, the Barca prodigy assisted Williams to score the opening goal with a cool left-footed finish in the penalty area.

Had it not been for the brilliance of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Yamal would have probably found the net more than once. However, one assist in the final was enough to establish Yamal as one of La Roja’s best players.

Williams was awarded the UEFA Man of the Match award – a well-deserved award for the man wearing the number 17 shirt. Playing on the left wing, Williams’ quick feet always made the England defense suffer with his lightning-fast moves. This player always knew how to create breakthroughs and he made a great contribution to bring the championship to Spain.

In addition to Williams and Yamal, it would be remiss of us to forget left-back Marc Cucurella – who had a beautiful cross from the left wing for Mikel Oyarzabal to score the decisive goal in the 86th minute. In fact, Cucurella has been good since the beginning of EURO 2024 and it is only natural that he will shine in the final.

As for England, Pickford was undoubtedly their best player despite having to pick the ball out of the net twice. Jude Bellingham also impressed with his assist for Cole Palmer. On the other hand, Harry Kane and Phil Foden were two players who played very poorly for the Three Lions.
