Manchester City are set to demand £60million for Chelsea target Julian Alvarez this summer.

The 24-year-old is open to a move away from the Etihad Stadium after growing frustrated with a lack of game time at the back end of the season. In fact, Alvarez did not start any of their last four Premier League matches and played just a combined 17 minutes in total. Despite this, he still managed to finish the season with an impressive 19 goals and 13 assists in 54 appearances and remains a key member of the City squad.

However, Alvarez, who is currently playing with Argentina at the Olympics in Paris, could leave City this summer. The Athletic have reported that he is looking for a way out ahead of the new campaign due to being far from pleased with his playing time.

It’s even added that he would welcome a move to a warmer climate, a view shared by the family members who have followed him to England. But it’s understood that Alvarez could be priced out of a move abroad with City demanding a transfer fee of around £60m, which would represent a gigantic profit compared to the £18m they paid for him from River Plate two years ago.

City will also be looking for around £17m in add-ons, making a deal expensive for any interested party. Chelsea are among those that have been linked with Alvarez as Enzo Maresca tries to bolster his forward line this summer. Atletico Madrid are also thought to be tracking the situation, although they are reportedly unwilling to match City’s demand

Alvarez, who has four years left on his contract, is expected to be second-choice to Erling Haaland once again at City this season but can be used elsewhere in forward areas. He is set to compete with Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku for a starting XI spot.
