According to the British press, Manchester City has chosen an ideal star to succeed Kevin De Bruyne once the Belgian midfielder leaves Etihad.
That is Bayern’s young midfielder, Jamal Musiala. The 21-year-old has impressed since making his debut for the Bavarians in 2020 and is seen by Manchester City as the perfect replacement for De Bruyne in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Musiala is tied to Bayern until 2026 and was in talks to extend his contract last season. However, so far, everything has stalled, leaving Manchester City open to the possibility. Financially, Manchester City certainly has the resources to sign Musiala.
For now, Manchester City will put Musiala on the watch list. Not long ago, Guardiola confirmed that De Bruyne would not leave Manchester City this summer. The Belgian international’s contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the 2024–25 season, and the club will not stand in his way if he wants to leave Etihad.
It is also possible that Manchester City will wait until the summer of 2025, when Musiala has only 1 year left on his contract with Bayern, to recruit this midfielder. At that time, if nothing changes, De Bruyne may leave Manchester City as a free agent.
At EURO 2024, Musiala was one of the outstanding players. After 5 appearances for the German team, the 21-year-old star scored 3 goals. Musiala has all the qualities to become a top attacking player, from technique to ball handling ability to tactical thinking to being extremely decisive.
To date, Musiala has made 163 appearances for Bayern, contributing 43 goals and 31 assists. He is currently valued at 130 million euros by Transfermarkt.
