Man City to Sell Unutilized Defender Yan Couto to Dortmund for €30 Million

The Brazilian full-back joined the Citizens from Coritiba in 2020 on a five-year deal but failed to make a single appearance for the club. He has spent the last four seasons on loan, including three in La Liga with Girona.

According to The Athletic, the English champions have agreed to let the player move to Dortmund on loan with an option to buy for €30m (£25.3m) next summer. Couto was a key part of Girona’s historic 2023/24 campaign as they finished third in La Liga. He made 34 appearances in the league, scoring once and providing 10 assists.

The English champions could also lose star players Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne this summer as they receive interest from Saudi Pro League sides.

After the 2-3 loss to AC Milan, Ederson shared: “There is no decision yet. It is really nice to hear Pep say that. This is my eighth season with him, there have been many good moments, there have been some bad moments. He is easy to work with, he is a football genius and everyone knows that. So it is really nice to hear him say that.”

“I’m happy here, having good moments with my teammates, I’m also enjoying getting back in shape. I’m very calm, whatever happens is in God’s hands and He knows the right path to take. Whatever He gives me, I’ll be happy with it.”

Pep Guardiola’s side play their final friendly in the US against Chelsea on Saturday before facing Manchester United in the Community Shield on August 10.
